During my time at Eastern Illinois University, I led creative development of various initiatives through the Housing & Dining administration. A few things worth noting were creating visual identities for each dining center and residence to the materials and media for campus promotion. While most of the work was design focused, there were a few initiatives that led me to explore the departments exploration with photography, video, and marketing. My main goal with all of these works was to bring a fresh, new feel to a well established school's administration.
As a department that works with a majority of the student base, housing programs and efforts were paramount to the departments success. Campaigns and content were consistent to keep the current residence halls students fresh and in the loop. Strategy was more prominent within the execution of the items created, as it was in sync with the larger university-wide efforts outside of our department. This allowed for me to expand my skillset to items like apparel design and videography on top of my design and photography duties.
Part of my duties with administration is to help support and bring awareness to the campus' various dining halls. Initially items started small to help foster and build the day-to-day awareness to students who were already within the program; This mostly included items like in-hall advertisements, media coverage for dining events, and social media designs to promote upcoming items.
As my time with the administration went on, so did my duty list and the scale of initiatives. By the end of my career with the administration, I was tasked with creating sub-brands for each dining hall. This included branded content, independent logos, and photography to help drive the each hall's focus.
